Funniest Person in Austin 2011 Andy Ritchie returns to the Velv!
Born in Canada and raised in Minneapolis, Andy first cut his teeth in the local improvisational scene. Switching his focus to stand-up and his location to Los Angeles, Esquire reporter Colby Buzzell described Ritchie’s material from one of his many Comedy Death Ray performances as “… this was one of the funniest jokes I’d ever heard”, in his feature for the 2006 Best and Brightest issue. Ritchie left Los Angeles in 2008 to continue his work in clubs and colleges where he has been met with enthusiastic crowd responses and critical acclaim. 2009 saw Ritchie perform at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal where his New Faces performance was recognized as one of only four “Standouts” in the festival by Time Out New York. Ritchie can be recognized from his work on Fox Sports Network’s Softball 360, and he also made his debut on Comedy Central with a 2009 performance on Live at Gotham. In 2010, CMT made Ritchie a featured performer in the 2010 Next Biggest Comic Contest. Ritchie currently resides in Austin, Texas and can be seen at clubs across the country.
