What's with the name?

    We are named after Ronnie Velveeta, a lounge lizard character played by Texas comedy legend Kerry Awn. Kerry was a longtime Esther's Follies cast member, and is the first winner of the Funniest Person In Austin contest.

Do you have parking?

    We do not have our own parking lot, but there is ample street parking downtown. Parking is free on Sunday, and Monday and Tuesday it’s free after 6 PM.

    There is a paid parking lot right next door at 506 E 5th Street, and a paid parking garage at the intersection of 5th Street and Red River Street which is a short walk to our venue.

What are your age restrictions?

    We are an 18+ venue.

Do you have a bar? Is there a drink minimum?

    We have a full bar available. You can order at the bar, or scan the QR code at your table. We have a one-item minimum.

Is The Velv in a safe area?

    Yes. There are plenty of police officers and private security guards in the area.

Who is performing on your shows?

    We post full lineups on our Instagram page. Please note that lineups are subject to change.

Do you have Open Mics?

    We do not.

How do I submit to perform at The Velv?

    Send a tape to velveetaroom@gmail.com with a short bio and your available dates. Due to the number of submissions we receive, we cannot guarantee any performance offers or replies. Booking requests without a tape are ignored. If you are a comedian from out of town, please send your submissions at least one month in advance of your trip.
